Indian Air Forces these three words for which lot of individuals of nation are working hard to get into it. When it comes to joining the Air Forces and serving your nation, you can go about it in more than a few way, and one of the way is AFCAT. The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air Force. The exam is held twice a year in February and August/September, respectively, to select Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical).

AFCAT is a gateway for both male and female candidates who wish to join the Indian Air Force for both Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission/Short Service Commission in Ground Duties for both Technical and Non-Technical roles.

Eligible and interested candidates can apply online from 01 June 2021 to 30 June 2021 on official website.Admit card date is on 09 August 2021 and exam dates are 28,29 and 30 August 2021

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

AGE LIMIT-

 FOR BOTH MALE & FEMALE CANDIDATES-

Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2022 i.e. born between 02 July 1998 to 01 July 2002 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 year i.e. born between 02 July 1996 to 01 July 2002 (both dates inclusive).

Ground Duty (Technical/ Non-Technical): Branches. 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2022 i.e. born between 02 July 1996 to 01 July 2002

 

MARITAL STATUS-

Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course. Widows/ Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are also not eligible.

 

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

FLYING BRANCH-

  • A graduate candidate with minimum 60% marks and must have scored minimum 50%marks in Maths and Physics in 10+2 in 12th standard.
  • B.Tech/ B.E candidates who have scored minimum 60% marks and have scored 60% marks in maths and physics in 10+2 in 12th standard are also eligible for it.

GROUND DUTY TECHNICAL-

 

  • The candidate must have B.Tech/ B.E degree in notified streams as mentioned in the official notification of the IAF with minimum 60% marks and have scored minimum 50% marks in Physics and Maths in 10+2 standard are eligible for technical entry.

 

GROUND DUTY  NON TECHNICAL-

 

  • Administration and Logistics – Graduation degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Accounts – B.Com Degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Education – Post graduate degree (MBA / MCA or MA / M Sc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International relations / International Studies / Defence Studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT /Management / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relation) with minimum 50% marks, along with minimum 60% marks in graduation.

AFCAT EXAM PATTERN

  1. AFCAT Exam - 100 questions on General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test. The total marks of the exam of 300 marks. The duration of the test is 2 Hours.
  2.  EKT [For Candidates with one of the choices as (Technical) Branch] - There will be 50 questions on Mechanical, Computer Science and Electrical & Electronics of 150 marks and the time duration to complete the test is 45 minutes.
