Then you are one step away to be in the Indian Defence Academy and that step is the medical test which decides that You are medically fit to be in Indian Armed Forces.

In any defence exams in Indian either it is for the Indian Air Force or Indian Navy or Indian Army the basic criteria are always the same, the medical check-ups in the Indian Defence exam are done by the Military doctors at the Military hospitals. Medical tests are conducted to check the body, Stamina, weakness, and Strength of the candidates. A candidate will have to go through the medical check-ups if he/she wants to be an Officer in the defence which is conducted by Special Medical Board(SMB).

 

Recommended candidates appear before the medical board for carrying out their medical board after the SSB results. It takes 4 to 5 days  for the concerned Military Hospital to complete the medical board and after that the candidates are dispersed. NDA candidates are examined both for Army and Navy unless otherwise instructed and endorsement of fitness status will be made accordingly. President of the medical board will guide the candidates for Appeal Medical Board (AMB)/Review Medical Board (RMB) procedures. Candidates may seek the advice of President Special Medical Board for review/appeal in case they have been declared unfit.

Following are the various tests that are conducted by the Medical Board at various days:

Day 1- Blood test, Urine test, Chest X-ray, Ultrasound

Day 2- ENT(Ear ,Nose and Tongue), Eye

Day 3-Surgical examination

Day 4- Eye and Dental check-up

Day 5-General Medical(height, weight, blood pressure, heartbeat) and Medical  Conference

 

Candidate should be Medically fit to perform military duties in any terrain, weather and austere conditions. Therefore there is two of Medical rejections which are as follows:

 

  1. Temporary Rejection: TR is given when there's a scope for the disease/issue to be cured/bettered in 42 days. It's usually given for all issues except the genetic ones.
  2. Permanent Rejection: PR is given when the issue is incurable or if sufficient time hasn't passes since the surgery which was undertaken to cure the problem- eg, in case LASIK, a cooling off period of 6 months since the surgery is required.

There are many medical rejections solely depending upon candidates .Here we are discussing some common medical rejections in details:-

TEMPORARY REJECTIONS

Some of the common Temporary Rejections are overweight /underweight or piles and fissures or gynecomastia or Any injury which could be cured within 1 month is given temporary rejection.

Also Nasal septum deviation or deviated nasal septum (DNS) is a physical disorder of the nose, involving a displacement of the nasal septum

As temporary disease which is likely to be cured in very little time and after you get rid of it in given time you go back for assessment. So if TR is given to a candidate then he /she can review within time period of 42 days to prove your medical fitness in any of the few decided command hospitals across the country.

PERMANENT REJECTIONS

Some of the common permanent rejections are as follows:

Colour Blindness: The Symptoms of this disease is in some cases  is so mild that people are unaware that they are colour blind. The common symptoms are having trouble in seeing colours and the brightness of colours in a normal way and unable to differentiate between different or same colour shades.

Sweaty Palms: If you have sweaty palms ,it may create hindrance in holding hands, weapons ,etc.

Knock knees: A condition when knees angle in and touch one another when legs are straightened.

Bow legs: A condition when the toes pointed straight ahead, but the knees do not touch, he or she has bow-legs.

Flat foot: A condition when a person have either no arch in their feet or one that is very low.

Deafness in ear: A condition when a person does not have normal hearing with each ear.

Short in height: A condition when a person is short in height.

LASIK surgery recently done for eyesight

Uneven bone structure which may in anyway hinder your movement

Excessive Carrying angle of the elbow: A condition when carrying angle of elbow exceeds the normal limit.

                                            

The confidence that you gain cannot be bought from a mall. A selected candidate can face anything, any kind of interview, any test without fear. Now candidate has cross all the levels to get into the Indian Defence Academy.
